The number of Indians seeking jobs online touched 6.5 million in 2005-06 recording a rise of 71 per cent over last year, and the figure is estimated to cross 9.2 million this year, according to a latest survey.

As per the a study conducted by Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), the estimated market size of the Indian online recruitment industry is likely to be pegged at Rs 241 crore for 2006-07, against Rs 145 crore for 2005-06. The industry is also likely to maintain a year-on-year growth of over 60 per cent.

"The survey found that junior, mid-level and senior executives accounted for more than 50 per cent of online job seekers. In addition, in keeping with the overall pattern of Internet usage, Maharashtra topped the list of online job seekers followed by Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and West Bengal," it said.
