Chennai , May 17

The Chennai-based global technology and services provider ObjectFrontier Software Pvt Ltd (OFS) has launched a Canada based marketing hub at Montreal, through a joint venture with OFS Canada. OFS Canada, which is also the name of the joint venture company, has invested $1 million and OFS will invest $1 million in stages this year.

The Canadian operations will be restricted to product development and marketing services from India. "Canadian industry is aware of the technological knowledge that India has and we are trying to promote outsourcing to India," said Mr Paul-Andre Savoie, CEO and founding investor, OFS Canada, through a video-conference. OFS will be involved in providing technology and services to companies based in Canada.

OFS Canada is targeting small and medium sized businesses with an annual turnover of $35-$40 million. "There are about 5,000 companies that we are focusing on, mainly for outsourcing product development related technology," said Mr Savoie.

The firm has secured four contracts worth about $2,000 each and is looking at about 12-15 clients to close 2006-07. "We are expecting revenues of $2 million this year," said Mr Savoie. OFS plans to expand its Canadian operations to Toronto and Vancouver by December.

Training

OFS will train about 100 people to handle Canadian projects. "We have hired trainers to train our employees in French language skills. Possibilities of going on site for marketing as well as technology exchange are high in this venture," said Mr James Walter, CEO, OFS.

Around 70 per cent of OFS' revenues comes from application development, and sales from the Canadian arm is expected to contribute in this area. "About 20-30 per cent of our total revenues this year will be from OFS Canada," said Mr Walter.
