CII for continuing pressure on Monsanto

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , May 17

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has asked the Andhra Pradesh Government to continue its pressure on Monsanto for further reduction in cottonseed prices.

The State Government had got a favourable order from the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission on the exorbitant trait value Mahyco-Monsanto Biotech (MMB) charged on its Bt cotton technology.

On Tuesday, MMB moved the Supreme Court, seeking a stay on the order.

Releasing the findings of the survey on textile sector in the State, the CII also wanted the Government to check the spread of spurious cottonseeds.
