HPCL revises cost of Vizag project

Our Bureau

Kolkata, May 18

HPCL revises the cost of its ongoing project for production of clean fuel and de-bottlenecking at Vizag refinery by 30 per cent from Rs 1,650 crore to approximately Rs 2,150 crore. Post implementation the capacity of the refinery will increase from 7.5 million tonnes to 8.9 m tonnes. Company sources said that the revision was primarily due to increase in the scope of the project in terms of product quality improvement, flexibility in handling cheaper crude and upgradation of support facilities. A marginal rise in costs is attributed to rise in prices of steel. The project involves de-bottlenecking of primary and secondary processing units.
