Port, dock workers meet to be held in Mangalore

Mangalore , May 19

The Executive Committee meeting of the All-India Port and Dock Workers' Federation will be held in Mangalore on May 22 and 23. A joint press release by the New Mangalore Port Staff Association and the Karnataka Dock & General Workers' Union said here on Friday that Mr S.R. Kulkarni, President of the federation; Mr P.M. Mohammed Haneef, General Secretary; and Mr D.K. Sharma, Additional General Secretary, would address the gathering. They will highlight the present scenario of major ports in India and will discuss various demands, to be submitted before the port trust boards and the Ministry.

Stating that the present wage settlement of port and dock workers willexpire on December 31, the release said the meetwill prepare a charter of demands in this connection. The leaders will also hold a rally and public meeting on May 23.
