GAIL begins naphtha marketing

New Delhi, May 19

GAIL (India) Ltd on Friday said that it has entered into naphtha marketing for the first time with the supply of its first naphtha tanker to NTPC, Auraiya from its plant located at Pata in Uttar Pradesh. In a statement issued here, the company said, the production of naphtha as a by-product of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fractionation has commenced for the first time at GAIL's plant at Pata after successfully carrying out suitable modifications in the process parameters. To begin with, GAIL will be supplying about 14,000 MT per annum of naphtha to NTPC.

Similar process changes have been planned at other GAIL plants located at Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh and Gandhar in Gujarat, the company said adding that the naphtha to be manufactured at these locations has already been tied up with the other unit of NTPC at Anta. GAIL will be manufacturing about 65,000 MT per annum at all its locations put together, the company said.
