ICCI to organise meet on food safety audit at Kochi

The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) is organising a meeting here on May 22 on food safety audit.

Ms Serene Tay Shau Yin, Head, Food and Biological Testing Department and Ms Chitra Radhakrishnan, Food Safety Consultant of Setsco Services Pte Ltd, Singapore will make presentations.

The Food Products Association (FPA), previously known as NFPA (National Food Processors Association), is the largest trade association serving the food and beverage industry worldwide. The FPA-SAFE (Supplier Audits for Food Excellence) programme, spearheaded by FPA was designed by leading food companies to meet the global food industry's audit needs.

The FPA-SAFE audit is a combination audit composed of Food Safety and Quality criteria. It is based on a descriptive audit that reviews the suppliers practices in the areas of quality related management responsibility, prerequisite programme, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) based food safety systems, production controls, quality management systems and regulatory considerations. The audits are co-ordinated by FPA and conducted by independent third party auditors who have been trained and certified by FPA-SAFE Auditors.

FPA-SAFE programme offers a broad range of benefits to the entire food industry, including enhanced and more uniform audit information of suppliers food safety and quality systems; eliminator of costly, duplicative audits, cost efficiencies for both customers and suppliers etc.
