Law firms Fox Mandal, Little merge practices

Our Bureau

Mumbai , May 20

Fox Mandal & Co has announced an alliance with Little & Co. Both law firms have merged their practices since May.

The merged entity - Fox Mandal Little - would be the country's biggest law firm, a statement said.

The names of the two law firms will remain unchanged. For now, they will use a common brand logo - `Fox Mandal Little' (FML) - except in Kolkata.

One-stop legal shop

The merger would expand the client base for each firm and give clients a "one-stop legal shop," said Mr Som Mandal, Partner with Fox Mandal, which traces its roots to Kolkata.

Little & Co, currently operating in Mumbai and Delhi, would get a larger geographical presence through the alliance, said Mr Dara P. Mehta, Senior Partner, Little & Co.

Lawyers and other staffers of both companies have been absorbed into FML. The company plans to have over 250 lawyers and fee earners and over 150 support staff.

Currently, FML has 37 partners across the country. It would focus on "non-litigation cases" such as real estate, telecom and IT agreements, mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate agreements.
