Sutherland to set up Kochi centre

Sutherland Global Services has chosen Technopolis, a private IT park at the Cochin Special Economic Zone, to set up its Kerala centre.

An agreement for establishing a BPO facility has been successfully concluded, said Mr George Muthoot, Director of Technopolis, a Muthoot Pappachan IT park, the first such in the private sector in Kerala.

Sutherland Global will be the anchor client for Technopolis, which is expecting to sign in two more IT majors very soon.

Sutherland expects to invest Rs 120 crore in Kochi and proposes to hire at least 3,000 professionals over the next three years.

On the reasons for expanding in Kerala, Mr Dilip Vellodi, Chairman and CEO, Sutherland Global Services, said: "We are confident that the talent pool and robust infrastructure in Kerala will provide advantages of cost, scalability, and more importantly, value across the spectrum of services we offer our clients."

Currently employing 8,000 employees in India alone, Sutherland manages global client relationships in 14 locations across America, Canada, India, and the Philippines.
