China, Pak teams to attend meet on rice bran oil

Kolkata , May 21

The 9th national meet on rice bran oil, organised by The Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA), is being held in Mumbai on May 27 and some 250 delegates from within the country and abroad are expected to participate in the deliberations.

A high power delegation from China, consisting of leading processors of rice bran, and senior government officials, and also Pakistan, is also expected to participate.

According to Mr B.V.Mehta, Executive Director of SEA, the association, in collaboration with the National Society for Prevention of Heart Disease and Rehabilitation, will be making a special presentation on rice bran oil for leading cardiologists, physicians, nutritionists and dieticians on May 28 to appraise the gathering on the beneficial properties of nutraceuticals present in rice bran oil as a "Health Oil".

Speakers

Among the speakers expected to take the floor at the national meet are Mr Jignesh Shah, Managing Director of Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd (MCX), Dr V.Prakash, Director, Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore and Dr R.B.N.Prasad, Deputy Director, IICT, Andhra Pradesh. The Union Agriculture Minister, Mr Sharad Pawar, is expected to be the chief guest.
