Railways States - Andhra Pradesh Secunderabad Rly division sets 46.5 mt freight target Our Bureau
Hyderabad , May 21 The Secunderabad Division, which ranks fourth among 66 divisions in freight performance, has set a target of 46.5 million tonnes of freight loading for 2006-07 as against 40.5 mt in the last year. The freight loading target for Indian Railways is put at 800 mt for 2006-07 as against 700 mt in the previous year. The officials of the division were confident of achieving the target, with the division registering a freight loading of 3.58 mt (2.82 mt) in April, showing a growth of 28 per cent. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Mr Sudhir Mittal, Secunderabad's Divisional Railway Manager, said the division could achieve the target by 99.66 per cent last year despite breaches to the tracks due to floods and monsoon rains. Coal continued to take the lion's share with a freight loading of 24.02 mt in 2005-06 (21.76 mt in 2004-05), showing a growth of 10.39 per cent. Loading of cement went up to 10.46 mt (8.72 mt).
