The association has said that investors have supported the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to augment generation capacity. The tariff should be fixed at a uniform rate for all the investors - old and new.

Chennai , May 21

The Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association has urged the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission to reconsider its recent tariff order.

According to a press release from the association, it is disappointed with the commission's order passed on May 15 that fixes a tariff of Rs 2.90 a unit for wind power generation for new investors while ignoring units installed prior to March 2006.

It may be recalled that the order has said that wind turbines selling power to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board will get Rs 2.75 a unit, a 5 paise increase over the existing tariff. But wind turbines set up hereafter will get Rs 2.90 a unit sold to the electricity board.

The association had requested a tariff of Rs 3.10 to Rs 3.40 a unit in Tamil Nadu.

The association has said that investors have supported the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to augment generation capacity. The tariff should be fixed at a uniform rate for all the investors - old and new.
