New postal scheme

AT YOUR DOORSTEP: The Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, (right) launching the `Bank on Your Postman' scheme by issuing the first cheque to a postman at a function held in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The Chief Postmaster General, Mr D. Kailasa Prasad, (second from right) is also present.

The scheme enables savings bank account holders to receive a maximum of Rs 5,000. The postman delivers the amount at the customers' doorstep at a service charge of Rs 25 within a 2 km radius of the area post office.
