Mumbai , May 24

Intel Capital, the venture capital investment arm of Intel Corp, said it has invested in Chennai-based Real Image, a digital media technology company.

The investment has been made out of the $ 250 million Intel Capital India Technology Fund; but Intel did not specify how much has been invested in Real Image.

The fund has already invested in Indian companies such as Mauj Telecom, Mobiapps Holdings and Persistent Systems.

Real Image specialises in technology for the film, video, audio and animation industry worldwide.

"This latest investment underscores Intel Capital's commitment to fostering technology innovation and growth in India," said Mr Arvind Sodhani, President of Intel Capital, at Intel Capital's CEO Summit.

Intel Capital made its first "strategic investment" in India in 1998 and since then has invested in more than 40 companies across seven cities here, some of the companies of which have gone public or been acquired themselves, said a statement.

Some of them are R Systems International Ltd, Sasken Communications, India Infoline and Rediff.
