Much on call

Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran is much in demand these days. At the dinner hosted by the Prime Minister on the second anniversary of the UPA Government on Monday evening, Maran was chatting with a few friends when a person came up to say that the Prime Minister was inviting him to join his table.

The Minister cried off, saying he was in no mood for dinner just then. Soon, another Congress leader came up and said, "Daya, Madam wants you to join her table.'' The Minister looked up and Ms Sonia Gandhi gestured him to join in. Unable to refuse her invitation, Maran walked up to take his seat along with CPI(M) leaders Prakash and Brinda Karat.
