Thiruvananthapuram , May 25

Cendant Travel Distribution Services has signed an agreement with Virgin Blue Airlines of Australia under which the latter will deploy aiRES, the next-generation passenger services system from the Kerala-based IBS Software Services.

Cendant is the exclusive marketer for this niche product from IBS, which is a leading provider of software solutions to the travel, transportation and logistics industries.

High-profile customer

Virgin Blue is Australia's second largest airline, which, along with sister carriers, currently operate a fleet of 51 modern Boeing 737 aircraft flying to 22 destinations across metropolitan and regional Australia, as well as to eight international destinations.

An IBS spokesman said that Virgin Blue is the third high-profile customer to sign up for aiRESaiRES is built `ground up' on open systems technology and is designed to replace less flexible, more expensive legacy systems now common in the industry.

The new, more efficient system supports future growth by providing comprehensive passenger reservations, inventory control, fares, ticketing, and departure control functions.

Business models

It also offers a myriad of different airline business models for today's competitive environment. Designed to be fully configurable, aiRES allows airlines to respond quickly to an evolving market, without the need for complex and costly development.
