Call for one-day strike today

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, May 25

Demanding the implementation of the proposals agreed upon by the Commissioner for Co-operation and the Registrar of Co-operative Societies in February last year, the Andhra Pradesh Co-operative Central Banks Employees Association, affiliated to the AP Bank Employee's Federation (APBEF), has called for a one-day token strike on Friday. If the Government failed to implement the long-pending wage revision and the recommendations of Dr Vidyanathan Committee that benefits the co-operative sector to the tune of around Rs 900 crore and strengthens the co-operative credit structure, the association would go on indefinite strike from second week of June, the APBEF General Secretary, Mr B.S. Rambabu, told newspersons on Thursday. A delegation of the co-operative bank staff met the State Minister for Co-operation on Wednesday and apprised him of the need for immediate negotiated settlement on the demands.
