`Global rubber trends favourable to growers'

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , May 26

The current trends in the international markets are favourable to the growers and the price will not fall in a big way, said Mr Sajan Peter, Chairman, Rubber Board, while inaugurating a State-level campaign to interact with one lakh rubber growers both by door-to-door contacts and 4,000 group meetings at various places in the State.

He cited three important factors for the current status in the plantation industry: the research achievements, the functioning of an effective extension wing, and above all 10 lakh rubber growers who implemented the board's programmes.

The board intends to export one lakh tonnes during the current fiscal. Since international prices are s ruling above domestic prices, export is possible without any subsidy.
