Non-food credit down Rs 756 cr

Gross bank credit increased by Rs 460 crore to touch Rs 14,87,631 crore for the fortnight ended May 12, according to Reserve Bank of India's Weekly Statistical Supplement.

This is inclusive of food credit, which increased by Rs 1,216 crore to touch Rs 38,474 crore and non-food credit, which decreased by Rs 756 crore to touch Rs 14,49,157 crore.

Total accommodation provided by scheduled commercial banks to the commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investment in shares, debentures, bonds and commercial paper was at Rs 15,29,793 crore.
