Record gain in spot rubber

Spot rubber recorded unprecedented gains in a single day, resulting in the gap between domestic and international markets on Saturday. Speculators dominated the session and prices zoomed amidst very thin volumes.

The spot market is still suffering from acute shortage of rubber. On NMCE, June contract closed at Rs 119.95 ( 117.61 ), July at Rs 123.55 ( 120.63), August at Rs 120.20 ( 118.31 ) and September contract at Rs 119.00 ( 115.77 ) a kg for RSS 4.

Physical prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: 118 (110); RSS-5: 110 (104); ungraded: 105 (99); ISNR 20:104 (100) and latex 60% ( per ltr): 74 (74).
