AP plans to promote fisheries

The Andhra Pradesh Government has chalked out a programme to promote fisheries segment involving setting up of modern fish complexes in all the districts and developing lakes located in the coastal districts to take up fish breeding.

This was disclosed by the Minister for Information and Public Relations, Mr Mohammed Shabbir Ali, while laying the foundation stone for a modern fish complex coming at Banjara Hills here at a cost of Rs 27 lakh.

Stating that the Government is keen on developing fisheries industry in the State, the Minister said the State is currently exporting around Rs 5,000 crore worth of fish products to other states and countries per month.
