Textile Machinery Shanghai Crosrol eyeing Indian textile machinery market G Gurumurthy
Coimbatore , May 28 The domestic textile spinning industry seeking to invest on pre-spinning lines namely, blow-room equipment and carding machines, has a new Chinese option now in Shanghai Crosrol Pacific Machinery Company Ltd which has set sights high on Indian market. Shanghai Crosrol Pacific entered the country late last year, setting up its essential spares and services base in Delhi. The company will be expanding to South by opening its spares centre in Coimbatore in July."We are quite ambitious about the Indian market which is witnessing a boom in textiles. The existing blow-room/carding machinery suppliers including the domestic carding machine manufacturers are all busy and we too want to join this market,'' said Mr Zhaoyang Wang, Managing Director of Shanghai Crosrol Pacific Machinery Co Ltd. A known player in the global carding machinery market since 1947, Shanghai Crosrol Pacific is in fact the new avatar of Crosrol UK Ltd. Pakistan is Crosrol's major export market with over 850 cards and 80 blow-room machines supplied by the company currently working in the Pakistani textile industry. "Our order position for cards had never been short ever since we started our China operations. We could manage to ship 35 per cent more machines since we moved over to China which enabled us to enhance product quality and cost competitiveness by lowering cost of production,'' Mr Wang told presspersons here on Friday. Shanghai Crosrol's China plant has a capacity to produce 650 cards a year. Though Shanghai Crosrol Pacific has focused on developing Indian market, its carding/blow-rooms are not new to India where some of the textile houses use the carding machines originally supplied by Crosrol UK and about 1,750 cards supplied by the company are still in operation. About 40 carding and four blow-room machines supplied by the company are in operation and installation of another 81cards/8 blow-room lines are underway in India. "Letters of credit from Indian buyers for import of another 44 cards have been opened and the delivery of these machines would be made in the next three or four months,'' Mr Wang said.
Exports
India being seen as the fast growing region, (he estimated Crosrol has potential to market 200 cards over the next eight months) the company would double its cards/blow-room equipment exports to this country by next year. As for pricing of Crosrol's cards, the company feels that since the machines sold here are not as expensive as they are in Europe, these cards would be competitive and matching in prices with those supplied by indigenous producers like LMW. The Indian textile industry currently source blow-room/carding machines either from European majors like Truztchler, Reiter or from domestic majors like LMW or Trumac.
