Silver steady, gold weak

Silver ruled steady, while gold ruled weak on the local bullion market on Monday.

Standard gold prices were down Rs 20 at Rs 9,680 per 10 gm from Rs 9,700. Pure gold (99.99 fineness) was down Rs 20 to close at Rs 9,735 per 10 gm from Rs 9,755. Silver (.999 fineness) price was up Rs 5 to close at Rs 19,370 from Rs 19,365 a kg.

Chennai: Bar silver: Rs 19,880; retail silver (per gm): Rs 21.25; Standard gold: Rs 9,790; retail ornament gold (22 carat per gm): Rs 907.
