Chennai, May 29

Kirtilals, maker of gold and diamond jewellery, released its `Empress Collection' here on Monday. Mr V. Balaji, Head - Marketing, Kirtilals, said that the collection is an amalgam of European standards of excellence and Eastern craftsmanship.

He said that the custom-made designs priced between Rs 20,000 and Rs 4 lakh, were targeted at the upper niche segment, inclined towards fashion and trends. The collection would be launched in centres throughout the country by July , he said. The company sources its jewellery from its own manufacturing unit in Coimbatore, which is about 5,000 employees strong at the moment. Mr Balaji said that the company would foray into the North by setting up showrooms in Delhi, Chandigarh and Ludhiana.

Currently, the manufacturing capacity of the Coimbatore unit is strong enough to handle the growth projected over the next two years, according to Mr Balaji.
