Notification on MRP-based excise

New Delhi, May 29

The Finance Ministry has specified June 1 as the date from which the maximum retail price-based excise levy would be applicable on toothbrush, plant growth regulators and parts, components and assemblies of automobiles. The Budget 2006-07 had brought these three categories of goods under the MRP-based excise levy. The Finance Ministry has now notified the abatement levels for these three categories. While abatement level for toothbrush has been fixed at 28.5 per cent, the abatement for plant growth regulators is 30 per cent. For parts, components and assemblies of automobiles, the abatement has been pegged at 33.5 per cent.
