Our Bureau

Hyderabad, May 30

Doctors at a city hospital have performed seven bypasses using beating heart technique on a critically ill patient. A week later, the doctors found that all the seven bypass grafts, in the 56-year-old patient, were performing well. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Dr Prateek Bhatnagar of CARE Hospital, who led the team of doctors that conducted the rare surgery, said that the patient was diabetic and hypertensive and was admitted with blocks in all his three main coronary arteries and four branches of coronary arteries.

As a result of these blocks, his heart's pumping rate had plummeted to just 40 per cent.
