Panipat refinery doubles its capacity

New Delhi, May 30

The flagship refinery of Indian Oil Corporation at Panipat has doubled its refining capacity from 6 MMTPA to 12 MMTPA, to further strengthen its market base in the strategic North-West market. According to a statement issued by the company, this has been achieved with the commissioning of the mother unit of Panipat Refinery Expansion Project, the atmospheric & vacuum unit, on May 28. The unit has been designed by Engineers India Ltd. Earlier, as part of expansion projects, the country's largest diesel hydro treating unit, hydrogen generation unit and hydro cracker unit along with offsite facilities like state-of-the-art waste water treatment plant, de-mineralisation plant, nitrogen plant, raw water treatment plant, flare, cooling water system and power plant, are already commissioned, the company stated.
