Letters CAG report
The Comptroller and Auditor General' report to Parliament points to a loss of Rs 3,500 crore due to under-assessment of direct taxes. Instead of taking measures to recover this large amount legitimately due to the Government, the Finance Ministry appears pre-occupied with levying new taxes. Responsibility should be fixed on the officers responsible for this lapse and penal action taken. C. V. K. Moorthy Bangalore
