NTPC Q4 net down 32 pc

NTPC Ltd on Wednesday said the company's fourth quarter profit for fiscal 2005-06 was down 32 per cent at Rs 1,566.3 crore.

Total income during the period was up at Rs 7,914 crore, against Rs 7,768 crore during the corresponding quarter in 2004-05, the company said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The profit declared on Wednesday was audited and approved by the board.

The board also approved the proposal to take over the Government-owned Badarpur Thermal Power Station (BTPS) pursuant to the Centre's decision to transfer power business of BTPS to the company.
