Britannia Q4 net up 157 pc

Britannia Industries Ltd has reported a 157 per cent increase in its fourth quarter net profit at Rs 27.8 crore compared to Rs 10.8 crore in the year-ago period. Total income (net of excise) has increased to Rs 466.2 crore from Rs 376.9 crore in the year-ago period. The company has posted a net profit of Rs 146.4 crore for the year ended March 31, 2006 compared to Rs 148.8 crore in the earlier year. Total income (net of excise) has moved up to Rs 1735 crore from Rs 1588.6 crore in the earlier year.

The board has recommended a dividend of 150 per cent.

The board has also appointed Mr K.K. Dadiseth as an independent director. Ms Vinita Bali has been appointed as Managing Director of the company with effect from May 31, 2006. Shares of Britannia edged down by Rs 1.70 to Rs 1,453.05 on the BSE.
