Rlys to restore telescopic benefit

Our Bureau

New Delhi, May 31

The Railways on Wednesday said that it would restore telescopic benefit in journeys that include trains of two different routes. The Ministry of Railways have restored the telescopic benefits in end-to-end fares with effect from 15th June 2006, said an official release. This benefit had been withdrawn from April 1. Telescopic benefit implies that passengers pay lower per unit charges for longer distances. Prior to April 1, under the computerised Passenger Reservation System, passengers were permitted to purchase tickets for stations beyond the destination station of the train, availing telescopic benefits on the fare for the entire distance.
