Zydus gets USFDA nod for Warfarin

Zydus Cadila has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) to market Warfarin tablets in different strengths and the Group plans to launch the product within a month, according to a company release. The potencies of the drug would range from one mg to 10 mg. The branded sales of the product, an anti-coagulant falling in the cardiovascular segment, in 2005 was reported to be more than $210 million . With the Warfarin approval, the Zydus Cadila Group now has a total of 14 approvals. The Group is likely to have competitive advantage in this product as it will be sourcing the API from its own USFDA-approved manufacturing facility at Dabhasa, the release added.
