Shipping PTP records highest productivity
Today, PTP is the fastest growing container port in the world, having achieved a throughput of four million TEUs within only five years of operation. It hopes to double its throughput within a year or so. This will be possible because of the completion of two new berths to be fitted with new super post-Panamax cranes, reportedly the largest in the world. PTP currently has 27 such cranes. At a time when most container ports in the world are facing congestion and capacity constraints, more so because of introduction of bigger vessels with deeper draft requirements, PTP is believed to be ready to handle vessels up to 250,000 dwt with a draft requirement of 19 metres.
