Rs 500-cr cocaine seizure at JNPT

Our Bureau

Mumbai, June 4

In what is billed as one of the biggest drug seizures in recent times, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized about 200 kg of cocaine hidden inside a container that came in a ship from Hong Kong at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port.

The seized cocaine is believed to be worth about Rs 500 crore in the international market. Five persons have been detained and were being questioned. On a tip-off, the NCB segregated 16 `suspect containers,' which were scanned through X-ray machines, leading to the seizure of cocaine in one of them.
