India's significance Mr Palmisano's visit to India comes at a time when IBM is transforming itself into a globally integrated company, pooling assets and skills across national boundaries. For IBM, India is an important part of its globally integrated company model and also an centre of excellence in number of areas.

Bangalore , June 4 The Chairman and CEO of `Big Blue' IBM, Mr Samuel J. Palmisano, will be on a two-day visit to India this week. This will be Mr Palmisano's fourth visit to the country since May 2003. The IBM honcho will address about 10,000 employees and investors in Bangalore on Tuesday. Mr Palmisano will speak on innovation in an era of globalisation and showcase India's vast potential, capabilities and its increasingly significant role in the global economy. The President, Mr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and the Chairman and Group Managing Director of Bharti Industries, Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal, will attend the event on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Mr Palmisano will host IBM Corporation's 2006 Investor and Influencer briefing in Bangalore. This is the first-ever investor briefing held outside the US and reiterates India's significance to the IBM's landscape, said a company spokesperson. About 40-50 global financial analysts, senior business leaders and influencers from India and Asia, business partners, senior world-wide IBM leaders and IBMers from across India will participate. Mr Palmisano's visit comes at a time when IBM is transforming itself into a globally integrated company, pooling assets and skills across national boundaries. For IBM, India is an important part of its globally integrated company model and also an centre of excellence in a number of areas. These include business process outsourcing, delivery services, research and software development.
