Pharmexcil plans biz delegation to four countries

Aimed at encouraging the small and medium enterprises in the Indian pharmaceutical industry, the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) proposes to take a business delegation of Indian pharmaceutical companies to Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar from June 25 to July 12.

In a press release here on Monday, the Pharmexcil Executive Director, Dr P.V. Appaji, said the delegation is being proposed to these countries as an approved activity under the market development assistance (MDA) programme of Government.

The Indian High Commission in Singapore has informed us that the ISPE Singapore Conference 2006 would be held during June 25-27 Suntec City, Singapore.

In a communiqué to pharmaceutical industry, Pharmexcil said, in addition to a comprehensive programme of four workshops, nine specific industry tracks, the ISPE conference would also feature pharmaceutical plant visits to key manufacturing facilities of Pfizer, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Schering Plough and A-Bio Pharma in Singapore.

Further, Pharmexcil proposes to arrange buyer-seller meets (BSMs), meetings with regulatory authorities in coordination with Indian missions in Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar. The cost of the entire package including the workshop, conference, buyer-sellers meet etc would be S$1665 (Around Rs 48,500).

According to Pharmexcil, companies whose export performance during last financial year was less than Rs 15 crore are eligible for reimbursement under MDA scheme to the extent of 90 per cent of airfare in case of SSI sector and 75 per cent of airfare for others subject to a maximum of Rs 70,000.

The four-country tour to Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia, would be from June 23 to July 12. The tour for three-country delegation, consisting of Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar, would be from June 28/29 to July 12.
