Norms for land allotment not followed: Naidu

Visakhapatnam , June 8

The former Chief Minister and the President of the Telugu Desam party, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, has criticised the Congress Government in the State for "allotting valuable land in the vicinity of Hyderabad and in Visakhapatnam to start-up IT companies."

At a press meet here on Thursday, he said that during his tenure more than 5,000 acres had been acquired in the vicinity of Hyderabad for setting up a hardware park. "The land value at that time was Rs 1-2 lakhs per acre. We wanted to develop hardware units there. The land value has increased enormously in recent times and now an acre fetches Rs 1 crore. Such land is being presented on a platter to start-up IT companies by the Congress Government," he alleged.

Land allotment

He claimed that during his tenure land had been allotted to genuine companies with proven track record, taking into account the number of jobs they created. "Now all such norms have been given the go-by. Are they real estate companies or IT companies," he wondered.

Mr Naidu was also vociferously critical of the hike in petroleum and diesel prices. He said it would lead to all-round price hike. His party would join the agitation against hike in petro prices, along with the left parties and others, he added.
