19 charge-sheeted in CSE scam

Kolkata, June 8

After four years of investigation, the Kolkata police has finally charge-sheeted 19 people for the Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE) scam of 2001 which led to a payment crisis of Rs 120 crore.

The people charge-sheeted include Mr Ketan Parekh, Mr Dinesh Dalmia, MD of DSQ Software and Mr B.V. Goud, former MD of Stock Holding Corporation of India Ltd (SHCIL). Two former Presidents of the exchange, Mr Dinesh Singhania and Mr Kamel Parekh, are also on the list.

According to sources, several charges such as 120B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating), 409 (criminal breach of trust as an intermediary), 477A (falsification of books of accounts), 467, 468 and 471 of Indian Penal Code (forgery of documents with the intention of cheating the public) have been brought against these 19 people.
