Alliances & Joint Ventures Ranbaxy to market Zonisamide Our Bureau
Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd said that it has entered into a strategic partnership with the US-based Invagen Pharmaceuticals Inc for marketing Zonisamide Capsules, which are used for the treatment of epilepsy, in the US market. Under the agreement, products would be developed and submitted for approval to the USFDA. Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc (RPI) would market the products under the company's label. Zonisamide Capsules, which are indicated as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of partial seizures in adults with epilepsy, have total annualised sales of $170.30 million, a Ranbaxy statement said. "Such partnerships with companies like Invagen, who have capabilities and competencies to develop bio-equivalent generic product for the marketplace, are naturally beneficial to both organisations while having a positive economic impact on the US healthcare system," the Ranbaxy Inc President, Mr Atul Malhotra, said. RPI is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. RPI is engaged in the sale and distribution of generic and branded prescription products in the American healthcare system.
