The Hindu Business Line : Limca Book of Records 2006 edition

The 2006 edition of The Limca Book of Records was launched here on Thursday. The book honoured Mr Vijaypat Singhania, a world record holder for flying a hot air balloon at the highest altitude; painter and sculptor, Mr Satish Gujral; SOS Villages President, Mr J.N. Kaul; Air Force Pilot Commander, Uday K. Sondhi, who had flown for over 1,952 hours with an artificial leg; and Mr Nishant Kasibhatla, the world record holder for memorising 1,964 digits as the "People of the Year" in the book. "This book goes beyond just paying tribute to Indians who have the drive to excel; it in fact inspires us to believe that nothing is impossible," Mr Atul Singh, CEO of Coca-Cola India, said during the launch. "When we set impossible targets for ourselves, it is to prove that our spirit is truly able," said Cdr Uday K. Sondhi. The book, edited by Ms Vijaya Ghose, incorporates achievements across 18 fields including medicine, science, radio, television, entertainment and transportation.
