Maran wants TN Govt to set up IT task force

Chennai , June 12

The Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Mr Dayanidhi Maran, has suggested to the Tamil Nadu government to set up an Information Technology Task Force to address issues related to the IT sector.

"I hope the State government would announce the task force in its new IT policy and new industrial policy,'' he said at the inaugural function of the US-based Telcordia Labs in the city.

"There will be a need for more coordination with IT people. Let them suggest what they want. We need to learn a lot of lessons from Bangalore, not make the same mistakes in terms of infrastructure," he said.

Mr Maran said the first phase of the IT corridor between Madhya Kailash and Tidel Park would be ready by August — the corridor extends till Siruseri on the Old Mahabalipuram Road. "The project suffered delay due to bad planning," he said.
