HMA defers decision on management awards

Hyderabad , June 13

That the new-economy companies have changed the way managers worked and led is perhaps no news. However, while managers are mending their ways trying to achieve the new benchmarks, management associations seem to grapple with the need to set new benchmarks for selecting best performing managers for their annual awards.

This year, the Hyderabad Management Association (HMA) has found itself in such a situation and deferred the announcement of the winners for the year 2006.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr S. Sivakumar, President of HMA and Chief Executive Officer of ITC (IBD), said the jury, which met here to select the winners, had decided to hold one more meeting on Sunday. The press conference was actually convened to announce the names of the winners.

"There was a huge diversity of applications," he said. How to create a benchmark was a tough question to ponder over.

The HMA usually gives the awards for the best performing manager, entrepreneur, small-scale entrepreneur, young manager, personnel manager and IT professional.
