Moderate loss in rubber futures

The domestic rubber futures recorded moderate losses on NMCE. The market was reacting closely to a decline in Japanese markets especially TOCOM after a firm opening on Tuesday.

The near month July contract was quoted at Rs 110.12 (Rs 112.80), August contract at Rs 107.50 (Rs 110.31) and September contract at Rs 103.00 (Rs 105.48) per kg for RSS 4. The delivery month June was totally inactive against its previous closing at Rs 109.84 on Monday.

The volumes stood at 1,609 tonnes with 1075 lots in July, 366 lots in August and 168 lots in September till mid-session.

The July futures for RSS 3 closed weak at 321.5Yen (Rs 129.28) against 323.9Yen a kg at TOCOM. RSS 3 slipped marginally to Rs 128.46 from Rs 128.58 a kg at Bangkok spot.

The spot rubber market remained closed on account of a harthal to protest against the hike in petrol and diesel prices.
