The Hindu Business Line : NetApp raises performance bar

Storage firm Network Appliances announced that it has achieved the first-ever NFS benchmark result of greater than 1 million operations per second, as tested using the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) SFS97_R1 benchmark. Harnessing the power of the new NetApp Data ONTAP GX operating system, 24 FAS6070 nodes worked together under a single namespace to deliver 1,032,461 SPECsfs97_R1.v3 operations per second, with a corresponding overall response time of 1.53 milliseconds. With this announcement, NetApp has now more than tripled the previous performance record for this NFS benchmark. This result illustrates that NetApp has substantially raised the bar in offering massive scale-out performance for customers in high-performance computing (HPC) environments. Data ONTAP GX is available immediately for customers in HPC environments.
