Outlook States - Kerala Havell's sets Rs 2,000-cr sales target Our Bureau
Kochi , June 18 Havell's India Ltd, one of the largest electrical and power distribution equipment manufacturers, has set a sales target of Rs 2,000 crore in the country in the current financial year. Of this, the Kerala market will contribute Rs 200 crore, Mr Anil Gupta, Joint Managing Director, Havell's India Ltd said. "We achieved a 100 per cent growth last year in Kerala and are expecting to repeat the performance this year also," Mr Gupta said. Last year, the company had a sale of Rs 100 crore in the State, he added. Revealing the plans for the future, Mr Gupta said that the company would soon introduce new products such as power capacitors, electric motors and water heaters in the market. Havell's is the largest producer of MCBs in the country and 52 per cent of MCBs sold in the UK are Havell's manufactured.
SALES TURNOVER
On the financial performance, he said that the company achieved a sales turnover of Rs 1,100 crore in the last financial year as against Rs 600 crore achieved in the previous fiscal. It also registered a profit after tax of Rs 63 crore in the last fiscal and the group is poised for a quantum jump of over 50 per cent in the current year, he said. With 13 manufacturing plants, he said, the group has achieved rapid success in the past few years. Regarding exports, he said that the company, despite competition in the global electrical industry, had trebled its growth to $ 8 million in the previous year and the target is to cross $ 22 million in the current year. The international business division of the company caters to clientele spread over 52 countries with offices in London, Dubai, Sri Lanka, China, Nigeria and Dhaka. Mr V. Jothish Kumar, head of marketing operations in Kerala and Tamil Nadu and overseas market of Singapore, Dubai and Sri Lanka, said on the occasion that there has been good response to many of the company's products in the State, particularly after the launch of several energy saving equipment such as fans and lightings in the market.
