Precious metals decline sharply

Mumbai , June 19

Precious metals fell sharply on the local bullion market on Monday following weak overseas market amid some offerings.

Standard gold prices were down Rs 155 at Rs 8,500 per 10 gm from the previous close of Rs 8,655 per 10 gm. Pure gold (99.99 fineness) was down Rs 155 to close at Rs 8,550 per 10 gm from the previous close of Rs 8,705.

Silver (.999 fineness) price was down Rs 305 to close at Rs 15,595 from the previous close of Rs 15,900 a kg.

Chennai: Bar silver: Rs 15,725; retail silver (per gm): Rs 16.85; Standard gold: Rs 8,675; retail ornament gold (22 carat per gm): Rs 803.

Kolkata: Silver ready: Rs 15,300; Gold ready: Rs 8,640.
