New Delhi , June 20

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBT) is contemplating opening its Asian office in India, its Chairman, Mr Charles P. Carey, told an Assocham-led business delegation to the US, according to a release from the chamber here.

The trust is also exploring opportunities to revamp, upgrade and modernise Indian stock exchanges particularly those of Delhi and Mumbai.

According to the release, Mr Carey said that one of the locations in India had emerged as an ideal choice for CBT for its Asian office. The CBT is currently negotiating with relevant Indian agencies to find ways as to how it can utilise its strength to modernise the Indian stock exchanges, he added.
