Spot rubber static

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , June 20

Spot rubber remained stagnant on Tuesday. Covering groups and purchase agents were not confident to extend further support as major manufacturers stayed inactive. Though TOCOM moved up further on lingering supply concerns in near months, the domestic rubber turned out to be more independent with a bearish touch in sentiments.

RSS 4 closed unchanged at Rs 105 a kg at Kottayam, while it weakened to Rs 105 from Rs 106 at Kochi. According to dealers, more enquiries from non-tyre sector came in for RSS 5 keeping the grade rather firm.

Futures weak

The rubber futures turned weak discounting the positive overseas reports on NMCE. The July contract was quoted at Rs 108.04 (Rs 108.81), August at Rs 108.42 (Rs 109.09), September at Rs 104.91 (Rs 105.67) and October at Rs 103.13 (Rs 103.13) per kg for RSS 4.

Spot prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 105 (Rs 105); RSS-5: Rs 102 (Rs 102); ungraded: Rs 97 (Rs 97); ISNR 20: Rs 100 (Rs 100) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 78.95 (Rs 78.95).
