Tech Mahindra to expand B'lore centre

Bangalore , June 20

Tech Mahindra has announced expansion plans at its Bangalore facility.

The firm is moving to a 1,500 seater and will employ around 1,300 by the year-end, said Mr Sanjay Kalra, President - Strategic Initiatives, Tech Mahindra. The 50-50 joint venture, between Mahindra and Mahindra and British Telecom, recently acquired Bangalore-based Axes Technologies, a telecom infrastructure research firm. Its headcount had subsequently risen to 900.

The company is hiring both software and hardware professionals.

It announced that the integration of the two companies was complete and that the division would be renamed Tech Mahindra R&D centre.

With this acquisition, said Mr Kalra, Tech Mahindra can now offer a wide range of services to the entire telecommunications ecosystem — comprising service providers, equipment manufacturers and independent software vendors. Primarily known as a service company, it is now into product development for various telecommunication companies in India.

It offers solutions support in the OSS-BSS domain (Operations Support Software and Business Support Systems) as well as testing, product development, next generation network and mobility services.

It has offices in Pune, Mumbai, Noida, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore.
