FARM FRESH: Bananas being loaded at a vegetable market in Kochi. India is the largest producer of banana with an annual production of 16.8 million tonnes.

Horticulture makes up 28.5 per cent of the country's agriculture GDP. Fresh fruit exports during April-February of the last fiscal were $209.10 million against $159.31 million during the year-ago period.
